Pakistani-Style Fire Cider ๐ฟ๐ฅ Heritage Tonic
A warming, aromatic Pakistani-style fire cider with spices, garlic, and tangy vinegar to nourish body and soul.
I don’t like taking things just for their health benefits, (nor do I follow trends) — for me, the taste and energy has to hit a certain depth. That’s why I add a Pakistani touch to my Fire Cider: cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, star anise, cloves, turmeric, chili, and garlic. ๐ถ️✨
Many people throw away the vegetables after infusing the vinegar, but I don’t let that go to waste — I use them as a marinade for chicken or lamb. Every ingredient has a purpose, and every flavor carries a story.
It’s more than a tonic; it’s heritage, warmth, and a way to nourish both body and heart.
Ingredients:
-
½ cup fresh ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
-
4–5 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
-
2–3 fresh green chilies, sliced (adjust to taste)
-
1 tsp black peppercorns
-
2–3 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
-
1 small stick cinnamon
-
1–2 star anise pods
-
3–4 whole cloves
-
1 tsp turmeric powder (or a small piece of fresh turmeric)
-
1 tsp salt
-
1–2 tbsp honey (optional, for sweetness)
-
1 cup apple cider vinegar (with “mother”)
-
Optional: juice of 1 small lemon for extra tang
Method:
-
Prep ingredients – Chop ginger, crush garlic, slice chilies. Lightly crush cardamom, cinnamon, star anise, and cloves.
-
Combine in jar – Place all ingredients (except honey/lemon) in a clean glass jar.
-
Add vinegar – Pour apple cider vinegar over the spices and garlic, covering all ingredients completely.
-
Seal & shake – Close the jar tightly and shake gently.
-
Infuse – Store in a cool, dark place for 1–2 weeks, shaking daily to mix flavors.
-
Strain & sweeten – After infusion, strain out solids. Add honey and lemon juice if desired. Mix well.
-
Store & use – Keep in the refrigerator. Use 1–2 tsp daily in water, tea, or straight as a health tonic.
Tips / Pakistani Twist:
-
Adjust chili for spiciness — the warmth is part of the tradition.
-
Cardamom, star anise, cinnamon, and cloves give a rich, aromatic flavor unique to your style.
-
Garlic + salt strengthen preservation and add classic “home remedy” punch.
-
You can experiment with small amounts of black cumin or extra turmeric for more depth.
-
Don’t discard the vegetables — use them as a marinade for chicken or lamb.
