Health and Islam: Taking a shower and bathing

Image
Islam has directed both man and woman to wash all over the body, with waer soon after 'physical intimacy' between a husband and a wife or other 'release' of fluids. Allah (swt) says: And if you are under an obligation to perform a total ablution, then wash yourselves. Modern science has proven that the human body loses a part of its vitality and activity after each "intimate relationship', and will not return by any action other than washing all of the body with water.  It is also obligatory upon women to wash their bodies and remove the dirt after their monthly cycles.  This washing recovers the woman's vitality and activity.  Muslim jurists refer to other obligatory and recommended baths that make Muslims clean, in most cases, and away from dirt and filth. Health and Islam - Discussion on Health in Islam

Islam has adopted positively the principals of the general health to concentrate in the legislative fields.  All of the precepts and laws of Islam yield the best fruits that preserve the physical health and guard against many diseases.  Some Western physicians, after they had been acquanted with the Arab and Islamic medicine, accepted Islam. Dr Georgeo Dar Blanto says. "All of the Islamic precepts, rituals, and recommended practices have a good relation to health.  They always intend to achieve two goals at the same time; religion and physical." Dr Ronan confirms the same fact. Dr Rondsandge says, "The Islamic instructions represent health since they call to contentment and moderation in food and drink, cleaning, and washing with pure water five times a day before every ritual prayer.  In addition, the ritual prayer is a set of physical activities.  Islam has also decreed to confine those who are defected by infectious diseases.  The Islamic sci...

Fasting Made Easy Thanks To Grains.

I wanted to let everyone know that although I met great challenges fasting last year with what became an irregular eating schedule and a neglect in my own food habits rather than those of my children ( I would actually forget to eat sometimes as long as the children were fed although our food was still natural and home cooked.  Needless to say I was fearing the long 17 and a half hour days this year.  To my great surprise, my fasting has gotten back to what it used to be years ago thanks to what I know is our greater intake of grains (lentils, Barley, Bulgur, semolina etc). I can now face the long extremely hot days (today was 53 degrees here in Qom) and still go out and do my things in the heat and yet not even face any weakness in my health.  I realized that it could only be due to our great strength that we have gained from putting grains first. I have found that quite a number of people around me are facing anaemia and immediately turn to meat to solve their probl...

Building Health from the Earth Up This blog is going to contain a guided approach to building your and your family's health from the earth up. In addition to food and physical health, no one can be truly free and happy without some form of spiritual advancement. So included here will be earth to ether, root chakra to crown, body, mind and spirit. And of course, that includes lifestyle and increasing meaning in our life. I am a Muslim, but you don't have to be a Muslim to find meaning here. Why? Because it's all about humanity, health, thoughts, living, and above all, progressing in every aspect of our life. Sources and Inspiration It will contain references from the Holy Quran, traditions from our Holy Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), and references and explanations from science — benefits of certain foods, nutritional information that is practical and understandable to everyone who can read — and recipes showing many ways t...

The journey begins

P eace! Thank you for dropping by.  I'm hoping in this blog to answer some of the questions both for you all and for myself concerning the best possible way to eat and live that builds health from the most essentials to the most beauty enhancing ingredients.  My quest and challenge with food and health  has been going on for years now and although food is only the most basic and perhaps essential part of health, without the right food in our system no matter what other amazing, and enlightened practices we add to our life, no matter what good energies we send out or exercise programs we incorporate the food is the fuel.  Health is a journey, its ongoing and progressive from the root chakra to the crown its all one. Let me back track.  I've gone back and forwards between being an enthusiastic cook and a resentful one for years now, which when you have three hungry boys waiting for food, one of those being a teenager never really being full no matter...
