Health in Islam: Cleanliness - clean clothes

Jurists unanimously have agreed upon the obligation of wearing clean clothes during prayers.  They have also ruled the invalidity of the prayers that are performed by those whose clothese are intentionally unclean.

['Clean clothes' in Islam does not only refer to apparent dirt being removed, but also blood, urrine, alcahol, or any 'impure' substances.  There are also specific instructions for the water required to be used and the standards for this cleansing by which the clothes are deemed acceptable for praying in]

They rule that such prayers should be repeated with clean clothes.  It is quite acceptable that the cleanness of dresses plays a big role in the achievement  of individual and social physical soundness and protects against definite diseases.

Aside from the laws governing the cleanliness of clothes, we also know that the skin is the largest organ of the body.  Most of the detergents we put in our laundry machines have so many complex and harmful substances added to them that we are consuming all these degergents into our skin when they are held in by our clothes.  The purer our detergents the less harmful substances our bodies will have to fight against once they enter our skins.

In addition, the amount of toxins that we are using to keep our houses clean to name bleech as one and the aerosol sprays for our ovens and the list is as long as we all know.

A healthy solution are the organic detergets we can purchase from our health stores and healthy house hold solutions such as bicarbonate of soda and vinegar for washing very greasy areas.

We are also responsible for all the toxins that we are causing the earth to absorb and which stay in the atmosphere which when breathed in cause lung problems and are also carcinogenic (cancer causing agents).

The world has become amazingly more conscious of these facts but for this reason I am still amazied at the number of people who are heedless as to their household cleaning consumtion.

All these things contribute to the oppresseion on our bodies, the earth and air which we will have to eventually answer for, if not with our health then when we are questioned.
